THE mother of tragic teenager Hayley Guile, who died after her car crashed into a tree on Fair Mile in Henley, says she has forgiven the driver who caused the crash. George Wilton pulled out in front of Hayley’s car as she was heading into Henley on July 7 and she was was forced to swerve. Wilton pleaded guilty to careless driving and was fined £500. Her mother Donna spoke to Wilton after the case and said: “I hold no grudges and forgive him for what happened. I fully accept that it was not a malicious act on his part.”

Sports clubs in Henley have hit out at the poor condition of the facilities they rent from the town council. Jeremy Spring complained about the sports centre in Reading Road, including the deterioration of the pitch and poor condition of the changing rooms. The site is run by Community Leisure Services on behalf of the council.

Members of the Save Townlands Action group have accused Henley MP Boris Johnson of not doing enough to support the campaign. Chairman Terry Buckett said: “I watched a House of Commons debate on television about deficits across the NHS and Boris wasn’t there.”
