A PROPOSAL for a site for a naturist camp with caravans, chalets and a garage block with a flat over it at Flint House, Goring Heath, was considered by Henley Rural District Council on Tuesday. A sub-committee had inspected the site and the council was recommended to strongly oppose the proposals and to point out to the planning authority that the suggested site was an isolated country house used as a boarding school with well-wooded grounds.

Admiral Sir Varyl Begg, who will take over as chief of naval staff and First Sea Lord on Monday following the resignation of Admiral Sir David Luce, is the son of the late Mr F C Begg and Mrs Begg, of Henley. At present he is the commander in chief.

Two Henley homes were entered by thieves at the weekend. The home of Mrs L Morton at Magdalen House, New Street, was broken into during Saturday night. The intruder gained entry by removing the netting over the larder window. As the larder door was locked, the thief had to content himself with the contents of that room, taking meat, gin, orange squash and fruit. The second break-in was discovered on Monday morning by the cleaner at The Brae, Rotherfield Road, where a small quantity of cash and silver was missing.
