Hambleden 2, Wycombe Judo 1
HAMBLEDEN continued their unbeaten run last Saturday as they beat second placed Wycombe Judo at the Dene, a side that has lost just once all season.
Goalkeeper Ross Hathaway was in fine form for Hambleden, pulling off a string of saves throughout the match, but it was the strike partnership of Steve Sanashee and Chris Sanger who gave Judo’s defenders a torrid time all afternoon.
Hambleden took the lead on 28 minutes when Adam Markwell’s long free-kick into Judo’s box was only partially cleared as Sanashee got the ball and laid it off for Sanger to smash home left footed from 12 yards.
Hambleden then had Darren Hemmings sent off on 36 minutes for a second yellow, just four minutes after his first.
In the second half Judo equalised after 60 minutes, with Ryan White running unchallenged from halfway to place a weak effort from 18 yards into Hathaway’s bottom corner.
The home side then had the better chances as they re-took the lead after 80 minutes. Steve Sanashee was brought down on the edge of Judo’s box by ’keeper Kerry Edwards. Matt Cook stepped up and his well struck kick found the top corner around the Judo wall.
The win moves Hambleden up to third in the league, on the same points as Judo but behind on goal difference.
Hambleden entertain AC Marlow tomorrow (Saturday) in the quarter finals of the Wycombe Senior Cup, kick-off 1.30pm.
