
ROTHERFIELD UNITED U12s, who are currently top of the Oxford Mail Boys’ League, progressed to the next round of the cup competition with a convincing 6-1 victory away to CROWMARSH YOUTH U12s on Sunday.
Rotherfield took the lead when an Alex Aldrich free kick fell to Joseph Beville to fire home. Soon after Sam Kemp put Rotherfield 2-0 up.
In the second half Kemp netted his second of the game before Crowmarsh pulled a goal back.
Lewis Beeton set up Beville who headed home his second of the match before Kemp made it 5-1 to complete his hat-trick.
Beville completed his hat-trick soon after following good play by Tom Jordan.
The back three of Ed Bloomer, Ben Smith and William Mullin deserve a mention for putting in another confident display.
ROTHERFIELD MUSTANGS U9s progressed to the quarter-final of the Berkshire Youth Development League Cup following a penalty shoot out against RS WOODLEY ZEBRAS U9s.
Oliver Bennett put Mustangs ahead before the Zebras equalised halfway through the second half.
With the deadlock unable to be broken in extra time it came down to penalties with Charlie Thomas keeping out the first three Zebras strikes, and Mustangs scoring with every kick to progress to the next round.
ROTHERFIELD COLTS U9s took the Berkshire Youth Development League derby honours when they beat CAVERSHAM AFC MUSTANGS U9s 3-1.
Colts took the lead after five minutes when a quickly taken throw from Nick Lee into the Caversham box was coolly slotted home by Josh Day.
In the second half from an interception of a goal kick, Jack Morgan took one touch and slotted home with the keeper stranded.
With five minutes to go, Colts made the game safe with a mazy run from Morgan through the Caversham defence ending with a well taken finish.
With almost the last action of the game Caversham scored a late consolation goal. Josh Day netted a hat-trick to help ROTHERFIELD COLTS U9s progress to the next round of the Plate competition with a 3-2 victory over WOODLEY HAMMERS TORNADOES U9s. Day netted all three goals in the first half. Late in the game Hammers pulled a goal back before reducing the arrears to just one goal with a strike five minutes from time.
In Division 4 of the Berkshire Youth Development League, ROTHERFIELD CHARGERS U9s drew 1-1 with TWYFORD COMETS U9s.
Oliver Deacon put the Chargers ahead in the first half following a corner from Archie Clarke. The comets equalised in the second half.
