HAMBLEDEN progressed to the second round of the Wycombe Senior Cup after winning 6-3 at Hazlemere Sports on Saturday.
Hambleden were missing several players for their visit to Hazlemere which meant a debut start at right back for Tim Bowler while Ryan Irving moved from his usual centre back role to fill the vacant centre midfield spot left by the injured Ryan Kemp.
A Ryan Irving header from a corner on 10 minutes put Hambleden in the driving seat before Hazelmere levelled the scores with a counterattack after 32 minutes.
The visitors regained their lead six minutes later when Adam North fired home from six yards.
Andy Shed put Hambleden two goals clear just before the break. He picked up the ball inside the edge of the box, lost his marker and curled it in to the top left-hand corner leaving the Hazlemere keeper no chance.
With only 15 minutes into the second half gone Hazlemere pulled one back to make it 3-2. Dean Kemp made it 4-2 with his chested finish from good Hambleden play five minutes later. Christopher Brunning’s strong downward header looked to have ended any chance of a fight back but Hazlemere still had a glimpse of hope with their third goal of the game.
Adam North wrapped the game up with his second of the game five minutes from time.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Hambleden return to Wycombe and District League action with a trip to Lane End.
