Abandoned clash decision

HENLEY TOWN still do not know whether or not they have reached the semi-finals of the Oxfordshire Sam Waters Sunday Cup, in which their match away to DORCHESTER UNITED was abandoned after 62 minutes.

Henley, whose goal came from an Ollie Maskell penalty, were losing 3-1 at the time but the referee wound up the proceedings following an altercation between a player from each side, though he did not issue a card to either of the individuals concerned.

Henley claim that one of their players was then knocked unconscious as the players left the field.

There will now be an investigation by the Oxfordshire Football Association before the result can be determined.

Reading and District Sunday League Senior Division side WRIGHTCHOICE proved too much for Premier Division outfit KIDMORE END as they ran out 3-1 winners at Gallowstree Common in the quarter-final Tilehurst Charity Cup clash.


The visitors took the lead in the first half after Kidmore End were on the back foot for most of the first 45 minutes.

Kidmore End picked up their game in the second half and with 20 minutes remaining equalised when Matt Walker scored a free kick from an acute angle.

However, with 10 minutes remaining the Wrightchoice pressure told when Kidmore End defender Simon Butler deflected a shot into his own goal.

Wrightchoice completed the scoring in time added on to secure their place in the semi-finals.

GORING UNITED crashed out of the Industrial Cup at the third round stage after going down to a 5-2 defeat at home to THE MOD.

Goring started the game brightly but did not look threatening in the final third of the pitch. The Mod took the lead with their first meaningful attack after 20 minutes when they scored from a close-range header. The visitors scored three more goals before half-time. Goring had a chance to pull a goal back just before the interval when they were awarded a penalty for a handball offence but the Mod keeper pulled off a good save.

Goring started the second half on the front foot and got back into the game after 50 minutes when Jonny Wale scored from close range.

On the hour mark Goring scored again when Lee Allen went on a maze run, beating a couple of Mod defenders, before unleashing a shot across the keeper from 18 yards.

Goring kept pressing forward, missing several chances, before The Mod made it 5-2 with the last kick of the game.

KIDMORE END RESERVES lost 5-2 away to GHANA STARS in the third round of the E Cambridge Cup.
