Houghton secures honours
Published 11/02/13

AROUND 50 ladies, playing off the first and 10th tees, played a nine hole, three ball Texas scramble, followed by lunch and a charity fare at Badgemore Park last week.

The winners on the front nine were Doreen Jones, Pat Massey and Susie Peake. The winners on the back nine were Sarah Deriaz, Val Harman and Diane Elliott.

Captin Marion Denby’s charity, The Stillborn Fund, was represented by Julie Jones, a bereavement specialist midwife from the Royal Berkshire Hospital, who gave a talk on their work. A total of £580 was raised for the charity.

Meanwhile Edward Houghton took the honours in the January junior competition at Caversham Heath.

Houghton scored 40 points. Runner-up was Callum Peart with 36 points ahead of Matt Robertson with 34 points and James Millard with 31.
