Henley Pumas lead the way at Thames Valley mini tournament
Published 11/02/13

HENLEY fielded four teams at this month’s Thames Valley minis U8s tournament on Sunday.

The Henley sides came up against opposition from Reading, Wokingham, Phoenix, Slough and hosts Marlow.

Top-performing team on the morning were the Henley Pumas who won all of their matches.

Lachlan Nye was in fine form scoring seven goals, assisted by the midfield and upfront efforts of Georgia Moore and Fergus Heggie. Caitlin Swinburn and Luella Coffey, making her debut for Henley, also scored. Laura McLoughlin and Finlay Reid put in solid performances in defence to ensure the Pumas conceded just one goal throughout the tournament. The Henley Lions had mixed fortunes, winning one, drawing two and losing three games. Charlie Rolstone, Lauren Hilditch and Annabel Tanner worked tirelessly and were rewarded with a goal each.

The Henley Tigers put in a solid performance but were unable to score as they drew three and lost two of their games.

Max Jones, Lucy Blomfield and Anya Marston showed good determination to ensure that the Tigers conceded just three goals.

The Henley Jaguars secured a good set of results with two wins, three draws and only one loss. Goals on the morning came from James Cormack, Murray Richmond on his playing debut and Molly Rosi.
