Top two sides settle for draw
Published 11/03/13

THE Sonning Common and Peppard A side fought out a 5-5 draw with the club’s B side in Division 1. Simon Berry came back from two games down to defeat Malcolm Gregory to put the A team 5-3 ahead, but Keith Swain completed a hat-trick for the B team to clinch the draw by beating Jason Roberts 3-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-9.

In Division 2 the C team continue to give themselves hope of avoiding the drop.Jeremy Willis and Matt Stone starred as they grabbed a point from a 5-5 draw with Kingfisher D. Stone won while Sharon Mitchell triumphed 10-12, 20-18, 11-8, 13-11.

The D team battled well but eventually lost 6-4 in Division 3 to table toppers Milestone A in a match that saw Mark Corbett make his return from injury. In Division 5 the F team lost 8-2 against leaders Springfield B to leave them on the brink of relegation.

The G team’s promotion chances are still alive despite a 9-1 loss to champions Our Lady of Peace I. With promotion rivals Kingfisher J losing to bottom side Milestone C the G team know that three wins from their final three matches could be enough for a second place finish.
