AFC HENLEY HURRICANES U10s continued their fine form in Division 2 of the East Berks League on Saturday with a 3-0 victory over PINEWOOD PUMAS U10s at Jubilee Park.
The hosts took the lead after 10 minutes when Clark played the ball out from the back to find Weller, whose through ball found Flower who finished from the edge of the box.
Henley doubled their lead a minute later when Kernick went down the right wing and crossed for Ruffell to fire home first time. As the half progressed Smith and Strachan-Jarvis’ presence in defence prevented any danger to the Henley goal, and the game was as good as over before half-time when Crook broke free and stroked the ball past the keeper.
The second half was tighter and neither side were able to affect the score line.
AFC HENLEY HURRICANES U11s’ long unbeaten run in the East Berkshire Youth Football League finally came to an end when they went down 6-3 to league leaders CAVERSHAM TRENT BLUES U11s.
Henley started brightly and after the first quarter had raced into a 3-1 lead with goals from Zodey Sabijan, Archie Barker and Jem McAllister before Caversham pulled one back.
Caversham’s change of formation saw them take control in the second and third quarters, causing Henley trouble with their pace.
In the final quarter Caversham scored four times in the space of a few minutes despite the heroics of man-of-the-match Henley keeper Luke Taylor.
