Kidmore End in seventh heaven
Published 30/12/13

THE wet weather saw almost half of the league programme wiped out last weekend.

Of the matches that did go ahead, GORING UNITED went down to a 5-2 defeat away at KENNET VALE in Division 1 West.

On a glue pot of a pitch at Upper Basildon, Goring took the lead after 15 minutes when Luke Butler finished a good move.

Goring were once again in debt to keeper Andy Symonds, who in the first half pulled off several good saves, including a penalty.

Kennet Vale took the lead early in the second half with two goals in the space of five minutes.

Goring hit back and equalised when Alex Mortlock and Toby Nowell combined to set up Luke Butler. Goring left Back Russell Collier was then sent off after picking up two yellow cards in a matter of minutes.

The visitors, down to 10 men, then went on to concede three goals in the final 10 minutes.

KIDMORE END RESERVES moved out of the Division 2 West relegation places after thrashing BANTAM 7-0 at Gallowstree Common.

Pete Keen scored a hat-trick while Zac Tull and Bradley Hayden both netted two each.

In Division 3 East MAPLEDURHAM beat COLEY PARK 3-0 at home.
