HENLEY remain two points off the top of the MBBO Regional League Division 1 table after drawing 0-0 at Chiswick.
From the outset the game was tight with both sides cancelling each other out for much of the first half.
The best chance of the half for Henley fell to Chris Green who, after being played through one-on-one with the Chiswick goalkeeper after a deft touch from Jodie Measures, was unable to convert the chance as the defence recovered just in time.
Chances for Chiswick were few and far between throughout the first half as the Henley back line looked in control. In midfield Foster, Joyce and Hetherington were finding both wingers Taylor and Hibberd with ease, as the visitors started to pile on the pressure in the last 20 minutes. Only last ditch defending and fine goalkeeping kept the scores level at half-time.
Henley were on top in the second half with numerous chances created but not taken. Geoff Joseph, Rich Woolfrey, Rob Mortimer and Chris Green again went close with plenty of shots on the Chiswick goal.
Henley’s dominance almost resulted in a dramatic last-minute winner as all the players went forward for a short corner only to be denied by the Chiswick keeper who fortuitously saw the ball strike him on the helmet and rebound to safety.
