HENLEY HAWKS WOMEN wrapped up the Championship South West Division 2 title with two games remaining on Sunday at Regatta Meadows.
The Hawks defeated Supermarine Ladies 27-5 to maintain their 100 per cent record this season.
The title-winning Henley side will now face the winners of South East Division 2 in a one-off play-off match on April 6 at a neutral ground to decide which side gains promotion to Division 1.
The hosts raced into the lead after just 30 seconds when Atkinson was put through on half way to finish under the posts.
Supermarine soon found themselves 10-0 down as Hearn powered over the whitewash after fine build-up play.
With the ball being made available through good overloads, another attack five minutes later allowed Barrett to be on hand to sprint into the left hand corner and claim her maiden try.
The visitors regrouped and led by number eight Chard began to hammer away at the Hawks defence. The game was end to end as both sides looked to use the wind and slope with a kicking game.
The match was sealed when Atkinson, who was being brought into the game well by the back line, produced another strong run and try to enable an easy conversion in front of the posts.
Supermarine then proceeded to press themselves and finished the last 15 minutes of the half the stronger side. This continued into the second half as Henley started to give the ball away carelessly along with penalties.
With the game becoming scrappy it broke up Henley’s rhythm but the defence held firm as Mckenzie-Dalton made her presence felt.
The Hawks mounted an attack into the bottom right corner for Atkinson to claim her hat-trick and the bonus point.
With the full bench being used the hosts then blooded several new players as they looked to keep Supermarine out.
This was almost achieved until nine minutes from time when a try fell to Gray, on loan from Witney, to score against her former club.
The Hawks then camped out in the visitors’ 22 with Parry and Simpson both coming close. A late yellow card was awarded against Supermarine just before the final whistle was blown.
