COUNTBACK was very much in evidence in last week’s competitions at Caversham Heath.
There was a close finish in Division 1 of the weekend Stableford, with the top three all recording the same number of points.
Dave Williams took the honours on countback from Alban Bynoe and Russell Higgs, all with 39 points.
Countback also had to be used to decide the first five placings in Division 2. Mervyn Jones got the nod for top place from Gary King, both with 40 points. Richard Norris was third on countback from Callum Peart and Gareth Ford, all with 38 points.
Division 3 winner was Ross Johnston with 40 points. Runner-up was Richard Drury with 35 points and third was Jane Weller on countback from Kjersti Cannon, both with 34 points.
Countback was again used to decide the Division 1 winner of the midweek Stableford last Friday. Barry Reynolds came out on top, ahead of Michael Chard, both with 38 points. In third place was Carl Bache with 37 points.
Division 2 winner was Martin Chidgey with 40 points, well clear of second placed Ross Johnston with 34 points. Third was Stewart Kennedy with 32 points.
James Millard claimed the February junior Stableford on countback from Edward Houghton, both with 36 points. Third was Thomas Parker with 34 points.
