Sharks’ bite downs Hawks
Published 10/03/14

AFC HENLEY HAWKS U11s went down to a 3-1 East Berks League defeat against SUNNINGHILL SAINTS SHARKS U11s at Jubilee Park on Saturday.

The first half of the match was dominated by end-to-end attacks by both teams. Hawks’ keeper Josh Hamilton produced a string of fine saves, while Jacob Eve, Ben Young and Ben McLynn kept a watertight defence.

Early in the second half Charlie Wall broke the deadlock for the Hawks with a deflected shot ending up in the Sharks’ net.

The visitors equalised shortly afterwards with a direct free kick from the edge of the penalty area. The Hawks kept up the pressure with Bradley Coomes, Abhishek Thapa and man-of-the-match Hamish Carle linking up to produce a series of attacks.

However, the Sharks took the lead before Patrick Organ tried to pick the tempo of the game up in the closing minutes with some darting runs up the left hand side of the pitch.

With just a minute of the match remaining Sunninghill broke away once more to score a third goal.
