A SERENA HICKMAN goal eight minutes from time earned Henley Ladies a South Clubs’ League Divsion 2 point at Eastcote on Saturday.
Henley, with only 12 players and missing captain Rachel Herbert, found themselves immediately on the back foot and it was only the fine play from defenders Kath Draycott and Ruth Nutt that kept the home side from creating any clear-cut chances.
Henley finally settled into the game and started to mount more of a threat, but neither side looked likely to break the deadlock as the half ended 0-0.
A stern half-time team talk seemed to inspire the Henley team who performed much better after the break. However, it was the home side that broke the deadlock first, scoring from a well-worked short corner.
Henley came close to scoring on a number of occasions and eventually equalised eight minutes from time from a short corner. A well struck shot from Buckham saw Hickman deflect the ball into the goal with a reverse stick move to earn her side a point.
