KATHY NORTH has been awarded the Caversham Heath Lady Golfer of the Year award for 2013.
North has had a good season in inter-club matches as well as winning ladies’ medal and Stableford competitions. She has also been ladies’ handicap and competition secretary for the last eight years.
In awarding the Lady Golfer of the Year award, ladies captain Jill McEvoy paid tribute to North’s dedication and overall knowledge that has been a huge benefit to the ladies’ section.
The Weller Winter pairs ladies’ knock-out competition has been won by Julie Daniels and Jean Head. In the final they beat Caroline Dover and Anne Smith.
Thomas Parker won a closely contested March junior Stableford competition.
Parker scored 33 points to hold off Charlie Brown, who claimed the runners-up spot on countback from James Millard and Edward Houghton, all with 32 points.
Dave Williams was the gross winner of the Caversham Heath Champions Cup - an invitation only competition for honours board winners.
Williams carded a gross 77. Runner-up was David Stankard with 79 and third was Barney Wytchard with 81.
Net winner was Scott Iremonger with a net 70. Second was Martin Chidgey with 71 and third was Dave Williams, on countback from David Stankard, both with net 73.
David Stankard took the Division 1 honours in the March weekend medal on Sunday.
Stankard scored net 71 to win by a shot from runner-up Richard Craven, with net 72. Third was Stephen Beresford with a net 73.
Division 2 winner was Gary King on countback from Michael Stoute, both with net 67. Third was Clive Morris with net 74.
Daniel Dover claimed the Division 3 prize with net 73. Martin Chidgey was runner-up on countback from Jim McGiveron, both with net 74.
