After a tea break including speeches and the official opening by Angus Fraser, the Chairman’s XI set about the run chase.
Despite a battling 26 from Ben Hancock the Chairman’s XI were never up with the rate. Christian Whittaker and James Paice took two wickets apiece as the President’s XI won by 32 runs.
HARPSDEN ran out winners in their first match of the season away to THEALE AND TILEHURST on Sunday.
The home side struggled to get going due to a fine opening spell of bowling from Ed Birkett and Johnny Wright. It was only with 10 overs to go that the run rate accelerated, Theale eventually finishing with 184 off their 44 overs.
In reply, although losing wickets regularly, Harpsden were always up with the rate. A fine innings from Ben Hancock assisted by some lusty blows from tailender Johnny Wright eventually saw Harpsden home with two overs to spare.
