Northway 5 Watlington Town 7
WATLINGTON TOWN started sluggishly at bottom side Northway who put the visitors under pressure from the outset.
Keeper James Conn was beaten either side of a rare Will Clements strike in the first half.
At half-time stand-in boss Steve Strong switched things around in midfield. Despite the changes Town made another uncharacteristic error at the back and were instantly punished to find themselves 3-1 down, but a swift recovery then ensued as Ben Little ran on to a through ball and lobbed the keeper to make it 3-2.
A Luke Yeulet cross was diverted into his own net by a Northway defender for the equaliser, as the visitors started to make their superiority count.
Chris Roberts was brought down for a penalty that was converted by Pete Ashman before Yeulet scored the goal of the game when he spotted the keeper off his line and lobbed him from just inside the opposing half.
Just as Town started to enjoy having the lead for the first time in the game, Northway came back into it again with two goals in quick succession from close range.
Town restored their lead when poor handling by the goalkeeper allowed substitute Gabby Heycock to nip in and claim Watlington’s sixth.
Ashman secured the points with his second goal of the game with a header from a late Yeulet corner.
