HOSTS WOODCOTE lost out at home to SONNING on Sunday in a match where scoring runs was always going to be difficult due to the previous day’s rain.
Woodcote won the toss and Sonning were soon in trouble losing wickets at regular intervals.
Ahamad came in at number seven and set about the bowling but Sonning were all out in 26 overs.
Paul Knox was the pick of the Woodcote bowlers taking 4-21, while Mark Pearson and Pete Roberts took two apiece.
Openers Pete Roberts and debutant Ryan Lennard got the Woodcote innings off to a steady start, but when Roberts retired hurt wickets began to tumble.
When Knox was at the wicket a Woodcote win looked likely but when he was out with 10 needed to win, the pendulum swung in Sonning’s favour.
Roberts returned to help the cause but he was soon out leaving Sonning the victors by eight runs.
