GREYS GREEN prevailed over Pinkneys Green as a rain-affected wicket and some excellent bowling made it tough going for the batsmen of both teams.
Only a few were able to stay at the crease for any length of time with runs hard to come by for both sides.
One of these was Purchase, who batted for all 43 overs, before falling in the final over.
Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers, all of whom bowled well, and he deservedly finished with 5 for 23 off 15 overs.
Although several batsmen tried to play positively, only Stokes(19) did so with any success and Pinkneys Green were all out for 100.
If Greys thought the chase would be straightforward, they were soon disabused of that notion, with Pinkneys possessing five bowlers of considerable pace and accuracy and Greys, with a man short, soon found themselves on the defensive at 15-2.
Shafqat (27) and Cusden (22) then proceeded slowly, but surely, to chip away at the target, thankful for the 20 extras gifted by the over-stepping bowlers.
The third-wicket partnership were in touching distance of seeing the job through but both fell in quick succession, leaving Evans and Ahmed to guide Greys home to a four wicket victory in what had been, despite the low scoring, an enthralling game throughout.
