Knox knocks up undefeated ton

AS the heavy morning rain took its toll across the region, thirteen matches were cancelled but the Premier Division WOODCOTE’S match at WELFORD PARK survived with the visitors recording a six wicket victory.

Woodcote captain Paul Knox, playing his first match of the season, was in sparkling form with the bat as he hit 118 not out.

Batting first Welford Park made a good start reaching 134-3 before losing their last seven wickets for less than 40. Salaria, making his debut for Welford, batted well with good support from Bayliss, the pair putting on 84 for the third wicket.

Unfortunately for the home side, spinner Zaheer was in fine form for Woodcote helping himself to 4-29.

Ryan Van Heerden also bowled a useful opening spell and it was impossible to keep Knox out of the picture as he took 2—9 in three overs and made a fine catch to remove Myers just as it looked as if he might put together a high score.

After tea, Welford made a good start in the field removing three Woodcote batsmen with only 17 on the board and they began to scent victory before Knox arrived at the wicket to help see his side to victory.
