Depleted Kidmore End searching for win
Published 23/06/14

KIDMORE END are still searching for their first Division 1 win of the season after suffering an eight-wicket defeat at EVERSLEY on Saturday.

A depleted Kidmore End side were under pressure from the off and were soon in trouble at 10-2.

A heavy shower slowed the wicket significantly and lusty hitting from David New and sensible batting from Joe Dixon led to a temporary recovery.

After two-thirds of the overs Kidmore had limped to 56-4. This caused Jeff Sheldon to drop anchor and Abid ul-Wahab to counter attack.

The two put on almost 50 runs together with ul-Wahab scoring 32. A third flurry of wickets meant that Frost and Sheldon had to help Kidmore End finish off their overs and try to squeeze out as many runs as possible.

At the end of the 48 overs allotted Kidmore End finished 152-8 with Jeff Sheldon 33 not out.

In reply Frost bowled accurately but was unable to get the breakthrough. Jeff Sheldon, whose bowling is well suited for the current conditions, bowled with threat but no luck as he took just the one wicket.

Ul-Wahab took the other wicket of the Eversley innings with a good ball, but without enough runs on the board the batsmen felt no pressure in the chase as Eversley eased to victory.
