MARCUS LOVELOCK won the club championship, the only major title that has eluded him in his time at Henley Golf Club, on Sunday.
The competition, originally planned for a two day 36 hole competition was reduced to a one day 36 hole event as the competition had to be suspended and eventually cancelled on Saturday as lightning threatened the Harpsden course.
After the morning round Lovelock had a six shot advantage with a one under par 69 from Ian Heggie. Dave Griffin, Martyn Metcalfe and Ollie Carder were one shot back with 76s.
Metcalfe put pressure on the leader in the afternoon round with the best score of 71. Lovelock only had to have a steady afternoon to take advantage of the morning lead and he achieved this with a gross 74 winning the championship by four shots from runner-up Metcalfe.
Ian Heggie took third spot on countback with a total score of 150 from Steve Webb.
Gallowstree Common based Lovelock dedicated his win to his father Brian, a past member of the club who introduced him to the game when he was a child.
