Weatherstone hits maiden half century
Published 07/07/14

WOODCOTE picked up a three-wicket victory away to MORTIMER WEST END on Sunday.

The home side batted first and skipper Nick Kingston top scored with a half century enjoying a good third wicket partnership with A Telford.

All six Woodcote bowlers bowled well and five of the six wickets taken in the 40 overs were clean bowled. Mark Pearson was the most successful with 2-47 but 16-year-old Keanu Brouard played his part with 1-11 in his spell.

In reply Woodcote looked to be heading for defeat at 32-3, but a good knock by new recruit Ross Weatherstone scoring his maiden half-century put Woodcote back in contention. When the seventh wicket went down Woodcote were still 50 short, but a good eighth wicket partnership between James Worsfold and Mark Pearson saw their team home with five overs to spare.
