CLUB captain Tom Campbell and ladies’ captain Marie-Paule Norgrove held their charity golf day at Henley’s Harpsden ground, a competition that was over subscribed and resulted in more funds for their charity than was originally targeted.
The team event, a Stableford where all scores counted was won by “United we stand” consisting of Peter Martin, Michael Simpson, Rob Johnson and Dudley Mills with a score of 135 points. One point behind were the team of “Misfits 1” made up of club president Geoff Luckett, Reece Pigden, Richard Fenn and vice captain Stewart Mills. The team of “Harpsden Rovers” consisting of Guy Norgrove, Alistair Crawford, Kevin and Jacquie McCourt were in third place with a score of 131 points.
Bryony Moore won the individual competition with a score of 37 points on countback from Matthew Archibald whilst Colin Lynes was third with 36 points. Reece Pigden and Ann Sykes won the nearest the pin prizes.
The original charity target of £4,200 was easily surpassed with more than £5,000 being raised for Friends of Townlands Hospital towards the purchase of a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. Joe Hemani, Ian Thomas, Mike Keiller, David Kirk, Mark Beckinsale, David Tate, John Baker, Simon Lawson, Gill Mitchell, Richard Edwards and Stephen Copeland all generously supplied the prizes.
