MARION DENBY was the winner of Division 1 as Moira Lawrie, lady captain of Badgemore Park Golf Club, held her captain’s day on Tuesday of last week.

A Stableford competition played off the first and 10th tees attracted a large field and there were many prize winners. Denby took the Division 1 honours with 38 points. Runner-up was Wendy Jelden with 34 points and third Sarah Deriaz with 32. Division 2 was won by Ann Lloyd with 39 points, runner-up was Carol Searle with 36 on countback from Gill Bertram. In Division 3 first place went to Diane Elliott with 44 points, second was Val May with 37 and third Vanessa Callum with 35.

Winner of the par three was Kim Hawkins with 15 points while the longest drive was won by Dorothy Arlett. Nearest the white line on the 16th was Gloria Sinclair and nearest the pin on the fourth was Helen Upson.

A putting competition was held after the main event and this was won by Alison Wood. The chipping was won by Joy Brinsford, Lorraine Simmons and Sue Cheale while the past captain’s prize went to Marion Denby.

A raffle in aid of Moira’s charity, the Wyfold Riding for the Disabled, was held and realised a sum of 478. Paragon Independent donated another 100 to this cause.
