WHILE Henley Cricket Club’s Berkshire contingent have seen their side finish bottom of the table, team-mate Tahir Afridi has much to celebrate.
Afridi helped Wiltshire become the Unicorns Championship Western Division champions with a dramatic win over Shropshire at Whitchurch on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old paceman provided vital late support to Neil Clark, who was the Wiltshire hero with a knock of 126 not out.
Afridi hit 15 runs off 14 balls as he and Clark steered their side home by four wickets with an unbroken 43-run partnership.
This left Wiltshire top of the table, two points ahead of Herefordshire.
Earlier in the game, which was shortened due to rain, Afridi took 4-72 off 22 overs in Shropshire’s first innings of 332.
Wiltshire will now play Eastern Division winners Staffordshire in the Unicorns Championship decider in a four-day game starting on September 7.
