AFC Henley Phoenix U11s 0, Binfield Storm U11s 1
HENLEY Phoenix U11s and Binfield Storm U11s served up a superb match with fine attacking play.
Phoenix attacked straight from the first whistle and Jack Dowling’s fine shot was well saved by Storm’s keeper. In fact, the keeper was able to keep a clean sheet for the whole match with a number of superb saves that kept Phoenix at bay.
Phoenix was relentless in their attacking moves. Callum McGreevey sent a great ball down the line to Peter Cook. He passed to Louis Shankland whose shot bounced off the underside of the cross bar, reminding some spectators of a certain moment at Wembley in 1966!
Phoenix keeper James Grundy excelled with three dramatic saves that kept his side in the match. Ashley Rainbow and Daniel Perry chased the ball hard with strong support from Quinn Wagner-Piggot and the game went from end to end. In the last minute came agony for Phoenix when Binfield Storm broke through and scored.
After the match, coach Rob Dowling said that Phoenix had played one of their best games of the season despite the defeat and had gained valuable experience for the future.
