DISC jockey Gary Boys will be running in next month’s London Marathon in memory of his partner who died two years ago.
Mr Boys, from Henley, will be raising money for the NSPCC as Claire Peacock was a social worker running a child protection team for Buckinghamshire County Council.
The 37-year-old mother-of-two, of Grange Road, Henley, died after suffering a brain aneurysm in a shopping centre car park in Aylesbury in March 2014.
Mr Boys, who completed the Henley half marathon last year, said: “Just the thought of running a marathon makes me shudder.
“However, I am someone who likes to take on a challenge and this seemed too good an offer to refuse.
“I may never find another Claire but I can certainly do all I can to raise money for a cause I know would be close to her heart.
“I know she will be looking down on me with a glass of wine chuckling to herself that yet again I have shocked her with another crazy adventure.”
Mr Boys is also organising a charity music quiz at the Angel on the Bridge pub in Henley next month. The compere will be Ian Payne, a sports presenter for LBC radio.
The event will be raising money for the NSPCC and Whizzkidz, a disabled children’s charity.
The quiz will take place on April 7 from 7.30am. Tickets cost £10 per person for teams of up to five and are available from Mr Boys by emailing gary@onedeck.co.uk
