REMENHAM Angling Society’s first match of the year saw anglers travel to Barton Court Lake at Kintbury near Hungerford to fish the fifth leg of the winter series.
With the resident skimmers and larger bream unwilling to feed in any numbers this was a close match with mainly the smaller fish being caught.
One angler who did find some larger fish was Graham Dodd who landed four sizable skimmers late on using the feeder to add to roach and perch caught on the pole with caster for a total of 13lb 13oz. However, this was only enough for second place as Steve Johnson’s net of roach and perch caught steadily throughout the match at 14 metres on the pole with pellet totalled 14lb 14oz, enough for a narrow win.
In third place was Henry Golas with 13lb 7oz of roach and perch caught on the pole at 12 metres with maggot from an un-fancied peg.
Section winners were Dave Wightman with 11lb 6oz and Roger Howard with 6lb 15oz.
