Hobbs holds pole position in series

THE last two weeks have seen the 10th and 11th rounds of Remenham Angling Society’s winter series take place.

THE last two weeks have seen the 10th and 11th rounds of Remenham Angling Society’s winter series take place.

First up was Whitehouse Lake at Tadley where Trevor Pearce triumphed fishing the pole at 14 metres with maggot and pinkie to weigh in several carp plus skimmers for a total of 28lb 8oz.

In second place was Mark Bowles who weighed in 25lb 10oz consisting of six carp caught on the pole with red maggot and in third place was Brian Bowles who weighed in 20lb 10oz of carp caught on both the pole and method feeder including a specimen of 12lb.

Section winners were Henry Golas with 11lb 2oz and Dick Shilitto with 19lb 12oz.

The 11th round took place last Sunday at Milton Pools with both Campbells Lake and Chargoi Lake being fished. Mick Hutt was pegged on Chargoi Lake and fished the pole both long and down the inside bank with caster and caught carp and silver fish steadily throughout the match to weigh in a match-winning 89lb 12oz.

In second place was John Hobbs pegged on Campbells Lake fishing the pole with maggot and pellet to weigh in 65lb 2oz of carp and silver fish and in third place was Roger Howard with 57lb 1oz of carp and silvers from Chargoi Lake.

Section winners were Dave Wightman with 48lb 3oz, Dick Shilitto with 53lb 4oz and Ade Bowles with 54lb 14oz.

With just two rounds remaining in the winter series John Hobbs retains a narrow lead with 166 points just ahead of both Wightman and Shilitto with 163 each with Graham Dodd in fourth with 158 points. In joint fifth with 131 are Steve Johnson and Ian Chaplin.
