THE pairing of Darren Wright and Mark Bowerman won the Remenham Rodney Pook Memorial Pairs match at Bowsaw and Billhook last week.
The duo beat off the challenges of 18 other pairs to win the match with three points.
Wright, who was drawn on Billhook, fished meat down the edge to weigh a section-winning 89lb 8oz while Bowerman drew on Bowsaw and also fished meat on the pole, finishing second in his section with 150lb 4oz.
The next four teams all scored six points so weight decided the second and third positions with Simon Willsmore and Roger Howard edging out Steve Johnson and Dave Wightman 185lb 2oz to 141lb.
Top individual on the day was Simon Willsmore who fished the method feeder to the island on Bowsaw for 153lb 8oz.
Section winners were Wright with 89lb 8oz, Dick Shilitto with 72lb 4oz, Wightman with 111lb 8oz and Willsmore with 153lb 8oz.
The match raised £240 for the Royal Berkshire Hospital Intensive Care Unit. The Remenham Club season got under way this week with the medal winners’ final held at Milton Pools on Campbells match lake.
Graham Dodd got his season off to a flyer as he caught carp and skimmers on the pole at four metres and on the inside with meat and pellet to weigh in an impressive 204lb 4oz to win the match.
Not far behind in second place was Shilitto who fished similar tactics from the next peg to weigh in 198lb 8oz and in third position was Steve Johnson with 182lb 8oz of carp caught on the pole at six metres with meat.
