THE second and third legs of Remenham’s Chairman’s Trophy took place over the last two weeks at Whitehouse Lake at Tadley and Billhook Lake near Odiham respectively.
The match at Whitehouse proved to be a difficult one with water levels low and gusting winds making fishing far from easy. Brian Bowles opted to fish the method feeder with red maggot and landed five carp totalling 17lb 8oz to secure a narrow victory over Mark Bowles whose four carp and two skimmers caught on the pole with meat weighed 17lb 6oz for second place. In third place was Graham Dodd with 16lb 4oz of carp and skimmers.
Last weekend’s match at Billhook produced significantly better sport with Dave Wightman winning on the day with 153lb 8oz of mainly carp caught at five metres and on the inside on the pole using a variety of baits including maggot, paste and worm.
In second place was Paul Howard with 141lb 14oz of carp caught mainly tight to the bank side reeds on the pole with paste and red maggot. In third place was Graham Dodd with 75lb 3oz consisting of 10 carp and 14lb of silver fish all caught on the pole with caster.
