STEVE JOHNSON was named winner of this year’s Remenham’s Chairman’s Series title after the final match took place at Milton Pools with the final leg being fished on House Lake.
Roger Howard took the honours in the final match of the series with 15lb of roach and skimmers caught on the pole at eight metres with maggot and caster. This was just ahead of son Paul Howard with a similar net totaling 13lb 6oz caught on the pole at six metres with maggot and in third place was Dick Shillitto with 12lb 10oz of skimmers and roach landed on the pole at 13 metres with pellet.
Johnson won the series with 190 points ahead of Dick Shillitto in second with 179, Ian Chaplin in third with 160, Brian Bowles in fourth with 154 and Roger Howard 141 making up the top five.
Last Sunday saw the start of the Winter Series as Remenham visited New farm Fishery at Hawthorn Hill to fish the match lake. With a hard overnight frost all the anglers struggled for bites for the majority of the match only catching towards the end. Pete Bowles fished the pole across to the island with maggot landing six small carp totalling 5lb 4oz which was enough for first place ahead of Ian Chaplin in second place whose four small carp caught on the pole with bread totalled 4lb 8oz. In third place was Mark Bowerman with 1lb 8oz consisting of one small carp and one skimmer.
