A MAJOR solo exhibition of Lynn Hershman Leeson will be held by Modern Art Oxford from Saturday, May 30, to August 9.
The American artist and filmmaker has evolved her style from a tradition of installation art and performance, with an emphasis on interactivity.
She has received international critical acclaim in a career spanning more than 50 years, combining art with social commentary, particularly the relationship between humans and technology.
Origins of the Species (Part 2) includes drawings and paintings from the Sixties, performance documentation from the Seventies and Eighties, photographs, moving image and artificial intelligence works from the Nineties.
It explores questions of privacy in an era of surveillance, the relationship between real and virtual worlds, and the mutability of identity in an ever-changing world.
The free exhibition is at Modern Art Oxford, 30 Pembroke Street, Oxford, and there is a public preview at 6.30pm next Friday (May 29). See www.modernart oxford.org.uk for more information.
