AN artist from Sonning Common is exhibiting her work at the Handmade Fair at Hampton Court starting today (Friday).
The fair, which takes place on the green at Hampton Court Palace and runs till Sunday (September 20), showcases artworks and artefacts that have been crafted by hand.
Sarah Pye, whose colourful paintings recently formed part of the
Regatta exhibition at Henley Studios in Duke Street, explained why she had been drawn to the event.
"I decided to exhibit at the Handmade Fair because my work has a link to Hampton Court Flower Show with its bold floral themes.
"I love the gardens and woodland areas at Hampton Court and I thought that it would be fun to show a selection of my woodland and floral scenes in an area that I haven’t shown in before."
Sarah, who has previously helped organise the Henley Arts Trail, will be exhibiting 10 new pieces and plans to paint a piece while on site.
Speaking to the
Henley Standard earlier this year, she characterised her work as "very Impressionist, usually strong in colour, with lots of splashes, hoping to encourage your imagination to fill in the detail and explore the painting a little further".
The Handmade Fair is the brainchild of Channel 4 presenter Kirstie Allsopp. Its opening hours are 9.30am to 6pm. For full details, visit www.thehandmadefair.com. Sarah Pye’s art is online at www.sarahsart.co.uk
