Developer tries again

A DEVELOPER is making a third attempt to build on some overgrown land in Benson.

Brim Developments wants to demolish Nos 22 and 24 Blacklands Road and build 11 homes along with parking, access and bin and bicycle storage on land behind the street.

In September plans for 17 homes on the site were rejected by South Oxfordshire District Council’s planning committee on the grounds of overdevelopment and being unneighbourly.

The parish council had objected on the grounds of overdevelopment, road safety, the impact on waste water drainage and the risk to wildlife.

There were also 22 letters of objection from residents.

In 2012, Brim Developments was refused permission for nine homes on the land and then lost an appeal.

The district council is set to make a decision on the latest application by December 15.
