Weir power worries

A SCHEME to generate electricity at Benson weir could fail to make money.

Benson Parish Council has been awarded a grant of almost £20,000 from the Waste and Resources Action Programme towards its hydro installation project.

But parish councillor Philip Murray, a member of the hydro working group, said payback would take 17 years, adding: “Technically it looks feasible but I’m dubious that the figures will stack up.”
