Mixed Triples Shield goes to wire

HENLEY hosted 15 clubs from Oxon, Berks and Bucks in their annual gala day to compete for the Mixed Triples Shield.

After seven matches Didcot B and Shiplake finished as winners of their respective groups.

In the six end final much of the good bowling seen during the day was replicated as the Shiplake triple of Jim Bland as skip and Sue and Roger Pitcher at lead and two respectively gained a win with the last wood of the match.

Former Henley chairman Cliff Blakeway presented the winners’ shiled together with a small shield and the prizes to each of the finalists. The prizes were donated by AB Walker and Sons Ltd.

BURGHFIELD ran out winners at HENLEY in a Manchester Unity League match by 97 shots to 82. The hosts lost on two rinks to the visitors’ three.
