SHIPLAKE needed just four points to secure the Manchester Unity League title when they entertained third-placed BURGHFIELD on Saturday.
Despite not being at full strength, Shiplake coasted home 10-2 and by 36 shots (98-62) for their first league crown since 2010.
Having also won the Plomer Cup and finishing third in ODBL Division 1, it has been a very successful season for captain Graham Clinch and the Shiplake bowlers.
Barrie Evans’ triple got off to a flyer, picking up eight shots in the first two ends and by the 13th were in an unassailable lead, eventually winning by 25 shots and the highest-scoring rink for the home side.
Getting off to a bright start Wendy Cross led by seven by the fifth end but then dropped a five on the sixth.
