Last SHIPLAKE beat SOUTH OXFORD 93-70 at home in Division 2 of the Oxfordshire and District League, picking up five points to the visitors one.

Barry Lambourne’s rink started well but fell away in the second half, going down by five shots. Jim Bland’s four ran out winners by 21 shots.

The rink skipped by Barrie Evans trailed for the first half of the match, although were always in touch, and overhauled their opponents in the second period to win by two. Graham Kennedy’s four dominated the early part, but had to withstand a solid fight-back, before running out victors by five.

SHIPLAKE suffered a 96-68 Manchester Unity League defeat at home to PALMER PARK last Wednesday, picking up four points to the hosts’ eight.

Barrie Evans was the most successful skip for the villagers, winning by five shots with the other Barry, Lambourne, scoring two on the last end to win by one. The other Shiplake skips were Mike Lovejoy, Jim Bland and Helen Robinson.
