SHIPLAKE ran out narrow 76-74 winners away to GREAT HOLLANDS in a five triples mixed friendly last Saturday.
With the lead changing hands several times Mike Lovejoy just lost out by two shots after a promising start.
The hosts went into an eight-shot lead before Bill Copp’s triple won an end and then played long jacks where they never looked back, winning by eight. Graham Clinch was also behind by five shots before he also lengthened the jack and came back to lead by two before being caught at the last end to draw.
The home side made the best start on a difficult rink but a four on the seventh put Graham Kennedy in front where they remained to the end. At the interval Phyllis Mansfield was one shot behind before the hosts pulled away to win by seven.

SHIPLAKE visited ROYAL HOUSEHOLD on Sunday in a five rink mixed friendly and were completely overrun, losing on all rinks by 51 shots (70-121).
Jim Bland never scored until the fifth end for a single and was gradually left behind, losing by 18. Daphne Jacob was nip-and-tuck in the early stages but dropped two fives and a six to lose by six. Four shots up at the 11th, Wendy Cross was overtaken to finish eight adrift.
Matt Shepherd took the lead on the first end and then was chasing his opponents for the rest of the game, losing by five. Losing from start to finish, Trevor Beaumont ended up 14 adrift.

On Wednesday of last week WARGRAVE went down to a 99-64 defeat away at READING.
The only successful rink for the visitors was that skipped by Mike Pope along with Ray Trussler and Hilde Jones.
WARGRAVE went down to a 107-69 defeat against HURST in a friendly match. The one winning rink for Wargrave was that of skip Marian Pope along with Ray Trussler and Terry Blake.
