Former railway station is a hot property ticket

IT’S full steam ahead with the sale of one particular property in Upton — as it used to be the local railway station.

Trainspotters are sure to fall in love with this unusual residence which still retains many of the features from its heyday as a station.

The detached period home used to be Upton and Blewbury Station, nestled on the edge of the highly desirable Oxfordshire village.

Accommodation includes a reception hall, sitting room, dining room, study, kitchen/breakfast, utility room, shower room, a master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, three further bedrooms and a family bathroom.

The current owner said: “The property was originally built in 1881 as Upton and Blewbury Station House incorporating a waiting room, ticket office and lamp room. It was used heavily during the Second World War as a main supply route, and formally closed in 1962. The property today still retains much of its original identity including the ticket office hatch and canopy.”
