NATWEST is to close its branch in Sonning Common.
The Peppard Road bank will close on August 29 but the cash machine will remain, enabling customers to take out or transfer money and check their balance.
The bank blames the closure on the branch’s dwindling number of customers, saying many now use other ways to do the banking, such as online or by telephone.
Councillors called the decision “sad” and said it was likely to affect elderly residents in particular.
The branch, which has five members of staff, is currently open 18 hours per week on three days.
