Mother and daughter team up to launch business

A NEW florist?s shop will be launched in Henley on Saturday.

A NEW florist?s shop will be launched in Henley on Saturday.

Molly Grimes and her daughter Amy Bryant will officially open Bluebells of Henley in Reading Road at 11am.

Champagne will be served and balloons with special labels will be released and people who find one can claim a free bouquet.

The shop will occupy the site of the former Henley Records shop, which changed its name to In the Groove when it moved to bigger premises in the same street earlier this year.

Mrs Bryant, who lives in Caversham, said: ?I have been a florist for many years and my mother and I have always wanted to have our own shop.

?We thought it would be good to have a florists just around the corner from the station.? Mrs Grimes, who has worked in interiors and design and lives in Sonning Eye, said: ?We have been looking for the right place for a while and when we saw this place was available it seemed right. We are very excited about it.

?We have noticed a lot of people walking around here in the evening and we will be open late some days so that people coming off the train can pick up some flowers on their way home.?

The women hope to cater for weddings and funerals as well as providing everyday flowers and selling accessories such as vases and cards.

Mrs Bryant chose the shop?s name because bluebells are one of the women?s favourite flowers.

?They remind us of the season just after Christmas when everything is just starting to come into bloom,? she said.

Mrs Grimes said they were looking forward to working together, adding: ?We get on very well and have agreed that the shop must not spoil our relationship.?
