THE foyer of the Kenton Theatre in Henley is to be refurbished over the summer.
The New Street theatre will be closed for about two months between July and September while the work takes place.
A new coffee bar will be installed and the box office moved.
Ed Simons, chairman of Kenton trustees, said: “It’s going to have a complete refurb. It’s 420sq ft and is always going to be that size but it will look amazing when it’s finished.
“It has not been touched for 50–odd years so it will look stunning the first time you walk in, a part of the Kenton experience.
“It’s something I’d have liked to have done in the past couple of years but I felt we didn’t quite have the funds available. I put it on hold last year but we have just had a successful year.
“The cost is within the theatre’s means and hopefully the increased bar space will have a positive commercial effect.”
The last performance before the theatre closes will be the Pavarotti tribute charity gala night on July 11.
