HENLEY woman Sarah Weldon will also be competing in the New Ocean Wave Great Pacific Race.
The 37-year-old former teacher will row 8,300 miles across the Pacific with PhD student Susannah Cass, from Dublin.
After arriving in Hawaii, the pair will press on to Cairns in Queensland, Australia. They are raising money for Miss Weldon’s charity, Oceans Project, which supports children’s education projects around the world.
Miss Weldon planned to row as a four with fellow Henley resident Lizzie Williams and Royal Navy officer Kate Gibbs but Miss Gibbs had to pull out because of a knee injury.
Miss Williams, 21, is still on the team as a reserve.
