JOHN GREEN spent two hours lying on a bed in a shop window to help promote this year’s Poppy Appeal.
He is the chairman of the Henley and Peppard branch of the Royal British Legion and was dressed in a First World War soldier’s uniform for the stunt at Lots of Living shop in Duke Street, Henley.
Mr Green was promoting the Aliquando Choir’s next fund-raising concert in the autumn.
He said: “The extra significance for me is that my father was in the First World War and won the Military Medal. At one stage he was given instructions to rest and he was lucky enough to get a four-poster bed in a village where he slept with all his equipment on.”
Shop manager Elizabeth Hook said the Poppy Appeal was a good cause and the stunt helped promote the store too.
