A CONSERVATION group has produced a manifesto to protect the Chilterns from development.
The Chiltern Society is calling on the next Government to adopt the document, which lists 13 points for dealing with housebuilding.
It wants new schemes in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to be restricted to brownfield land and smaller “infill” sites.
It says ministers should consider extending the AONB and prioritise protection of the green belt over housing need.
The society says planning authorities should be allowed to adjust housing targets if all brownfield and infill sites have been exhausted.
It also wants councils to have the power to demand more infrastructure improvments before approving planning applications.
